The Outcome and Assessment Information Set (OASIS), which was developed by the Health Care Financing Administration, was implemented for use by home health agencies on all patients who are Medicare beneficiaries. In spite of its 1999 implementation, many nurses do not understand or know what OASIS is about. Dr. Patsy Anderson, a nursing expert in home health nursing and the home health industry and a homecare surveyor for the Joint Commission of Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, shared her views and explanation of OASIS during an interview conducted in May 2000.
