E-Commerce in Health Care: Can it Improve Access and Lower Cost?

In this article, the authors explore how e-commerce can lower the cost of health care thereby decreasing financial barriers to accessing health care services. Their approach is to provide a snapshot of health care Internet e-commerce by consideration of the economic principles behind e-commerce and positive applications of e-commerce to financial transaction processing, customer service, and health services delivery.
