Leadership and Public Policy

This article outlines some of the key issues that medical science, research, and technology raise for society and urges nurses to play a larger role in setting public policy to define and regulate their future use and development. It notes the unique clinical and academic experiences of nurses that qualify them for this task and suggests specific ways these goals can be achieved through the Center for Health Policy, Research and Ethics at George Mason University.
