Innovations in Health Care Delivery: Responses to Global Nurse Migration—A Practice Example

Jeanne Floyd, PhD, RN, CAE

American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC)

The American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) mission is to promote excellence in nursing and health care globally through credentialing programs and related services. Among these programs, the Magnet Recognition Program recognizes health care institutions that excel at changing their cultures to provide excellent patient care. In recent years, ANCC has partnered with health care organizations and researchers internationally to extend the Magnet Program to other countries. There is flexibility in the Magnet Program to be able to do this; however, we must continue to refine the meaning and necessary level of flexibility to be applied. It is important, as we move forward, that we honor one of the Magnet tenets: to celebrate milestones.
